It's the third week and the eight remaining potters must master the art of Japanese ceramics. In particular, they have to launch a sake set consisting of a bottle and six identical cups. They fire them using one of the most exciting techniques in ceramics, Raku. Originating in 16th-century Japan, this risky and volatile firing method requires potters to take their burning sake set out of the kiln before plunging it into a garbage can filled with combustible materials.
